Netflix has announced a boat-load of new casting details for its upcoming live-action One Piece series.. The streaming company announced several new additions to the cast, who will mostly be playing supporting or antagonistic characters from the manga's original Romance Dawn arc. Morgan Davies from The Evil Dead: Rise will portray Koby, one of the first people protagonist Monkey D. Luffy.

I think Coby's character was highlighted due to Garp and Luffy's arc in this. Even in Manga, Luffy was stopped at certain points by Garp. Garp just says it in Manga but he literally does something here in Live action. This really made sense. So, having this story in meant they could use Coby for a little while longer too..
