Similar blade profile/shape, but in a full flat grind instead of the saber grind of the Gerber. 1095 Cro-Van steel (like most Ka-Bars), and comes in a cool tactical style nylon sheath. But we're still talking about a sub $50 knife. Currently Amazon has the Strongarm in 420HC for $69 and the Grey with BDZ-1 for $73. For that price difference, if it behaves like 14c28n is is the knife I would get. I think $70 for a 420HC knife is a little too much for what Buck sells in the same steel in a USA made knife for $40.

Received my new Gerber Strongarm in BDZ-1. OooOOOoooo! I like it! Bladeops.com sells it for 69.99. Amazon is cheaper though. It's a compact little bigger isn't it. Same size as regular strong arm i do believe. If not theres not a great difference. I wasn't implying it was smaller than the other version.

Bdz-1 steel is essentially 14c28n iirc (or one of the Sandvik steels). Just from another steel company. It's a lil better in edge retention than the 420hc the original strong arm has. And iirc it also has a different tang or a full tang. I forgot how the marketing went, as well as a different blade.
